Dermal Filler & Filler Dissolving

Pre & Post Care

At Skin Firm Aesthetics + Wellness, your safety and results are our priority. Please review these guidelines before and after your dermal filler or filler dissolving appointment. Your provider may give you additional instructions based on your treatment plan.

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

● Medications & supplements: Some medications and supplements can increase bruising. Inform your provider of everything you take. Never stop prescribed blood thinners or other medications without approval from your prescribing healthcare professional.

● Alcohol: Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment to help minimize bruising and swelling.

● Skin health: Notify your provider of any active cold sores, skin infections, irritation, or recent dental procedures. Reschedule if you have an active infection in the treatment area.

● Arrive prepared: Come with clean skin when possible and let your provider know about previous filler treatments, including the product and approximate date if known.

● Plan ahead: Schedule treatments well in advance of special events, as swelling and bruising can take days or longer to resolve.

AFTER DERMAL FILLER TREATMENT

● Swelling & bruising: Mild swelling, tenderness, redness, and bruising can occur. Use a clean, cool compress gently if recommended by your provider.

● Touching the area: Avoid unnecessary touching, rubbing, or massaging unless your provider specifically instructs you otherwise.

● Exercise: Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours or as directed by your provider.

● Heat & alcohol: Avoid excessive heat, saunas, and alcohol for the first 24 hours, or as otherwise directed.

● Makeup & skincare: Follow your provider’s guidance on when to resume makeup and active skincare products.

● Results: Initial swelling may temporarily affect the appearance of your results. Allow time for swelling to settle before evaluating your final outcome.

AFTER FILLER DISSOLVING

● Swelling & tenderness: Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising may occur after dissolving treatment.

● Avoid pressure: Do not rub or massage the area unless specifically instructed by your provider.

● Results: The amount of filler dissolved and the timing of changes vary. More than one treatment may sometimes be needed.

● Follow-up: Attend your recommended follow-up appointment so your provider can assess your response and discuss next steps.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Seek immediate medical attention for severe or increasing pain, skin that becomes unusually pale or develops a mottled or dusky color, cool skin, or any vision changes after filler treatment. These can be signs of a serious complication. Do not wait for a routine callback if vision changes occur.
